The Leadership Legacy Experience is the University of Connecticut's most elite, immersive leadership program that helps prepare talented students for a life of commitment and contribution beyond graduation. The program recognizes and invites the University of Connecticut's most exceptional undergraduate students to participate in a one-year leadership development program starting in January and ending in December of 2025. Throughout the year, students will engage in biweekly leadership reflections that promote personal and professional development. UConn Waterbury will be hosting Suicide Prevention Week. Students will be able to participate in the "Field of Memories" activity throughout the week, engage in mental health screenings and get resources from community providers. 

Several community agencies will be on campus during Suicide Prevention Week to provide educational information to students on suicide prevention and resources. 

Students will be given small yellow flags to write encouraging messages to one another. These flags will be placed in the grass in the courtyard as a representation of the number of college students that end their life to suicide each year. The "field" will be on display all week.

Her research areas include critical border studies, political and legal anthropology, medical anthropology, migration, migrant health, citizenship, focusing on the U.S./Mexico border, Mexico, Germany, and Morocco. She is the author of Borders of Belonging: Struggle and Solidarity in Mixed-Status Immigrant Families (Stanford University Press, 2019) and co-editor of Unequal Coverage: The Experience of Health Care Reform in the United States (NYU Press, 2018). Her latest book is Migration and Health: Critical Perspectives (Routledge, 2023). Dr. Castañeda has also published dozens of research articles on migration and health care access for immigrant populations. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, the Fulbright Program, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research.

Conny Goelz Schmitt alludes to storytelling and knowledge in her ingenious sculptures created from vintage book parts. Ellen Weider's paintings, distinctive in their mysterious arrangements of shape and color, suggest rarefied worlds and invite interpretation. Paul D'Agostino's "Chromatic Alphabet" paintings consider language, text, narrative, and translation through precise arrangements of color and shape. Seth David Rubin's photographic works transform landscape and explore points of view through arrangements of shaped reflections. Will Holub's layered mixed media collages combine figural and abstract elements to discover interconnectedness amidst fragmentation and diversity. Helena Chastel's sculptures are weighty or whimsical investigations of sacred geometry.
