- 6:00 PM1h"Do No Harm" Film Discussion; Physician Suicides and Burnout"Do No Harm" is a film that talks about the burnout of the medical field and the alarming increase in physician and student suicides. In our discussion following the film screening, we will address the culture of harm that is central to the culture of medical education and practice. We'll connect the experiences of ritualized hazing within medical education and training, starting in the pre-med/pre-health phase - which contributes to the sub-humanization of students and trainees - to the multiple ways that the profession of medicine systematically sub-humanizes people marked as "other". This problem is not a new problem. In fact, it has long been recognized that medical education and training can cause significant harm to students/trainees. Have the opportunity to watch the film for free and speak with Dr. Jeff Koetje about the film's important themes. In order to attend, Honors student must watch the film beforehand to participant in the discussion. Those who RSVP on UConntact will receive the link to watch on their own OR they can come and watch the screening in person where there will be free food and drinks in STRS WW01 on October 16th from 6pm-7pm.
