- All dayPanhellenic's Welcome Home DrivePanhellenic Council is now hosting a Welcome Home drive to help support the women and families associated with My Sister's Place by giving necessities needed in a household. My Sister's Place has a mission of putting these women and families into stable housing so the ability to provide the supplies needed to get started in these new homes allows them to have stress alleviated from this. Some examples of what can be donated can include: -Kitchen Ware -Bathroom Necessities -Cleaning Supplies -Laundry Supplies -And many more! If you are interested in donating any supplies to help welcome these families into their new homes please bring them to the Student Union donation box across from the Information center from March 24th-March 30th.
- All daySubmit Artwork for Employee Art ShowAttention artists of UConn Health: It's time for another employee art show in the Connector Gallery, and we want you to be a part of it. Please send up to three sample images of your original art to arochester@uchc.edu. We will accept submissions for this Employee/Staff Art Show until 5 p.m. Thursday, April 3. Volunteers from our art committee will select original works of art by UConn Health employees and Staff to display in our Connector Gallery between University Tower and CT Tower. Space is limited, so we will only display up to three works per artist and no more than 20 at a time depending on size and availability of wall space.All works on paper must be framed to ensure its protection. All artworks must have wire installed for hanging. If selected and your work is not prepared for hanging, it will be turned away because it must be installed using our hanging system. To prevent safety hazards and/or accidental damage in this is high-traffic area, we will not display sculptures that require pedestals. If needed, contact Andre Rochester as soon as possible at arochester@uchc.edu for guidance on how to properly prepare your art for gallery display. Selection will be based primarily on collective themes and aesthetic complement to other submissions. If your work is not selected for this exhibit, please consider submitting again in the future. We look forward to viewing your art and celebrating your artistic talents at UConn Health. - All dayYIIP - Now Accepting ApplicationsCall for Applications The Young Innovative Investigator Program (YIIP) is a 2-year program of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering which aims to develop the next generation of innovative scientists by providing academic training to individuals dedicated to pursuing careers as scientists and scholars in biological and biomedical science. The program is specifically focused on recruiting underrepresented students to contribute towards developing a sustainable pipeline to increase diversity among the pool of academic scientists. YIIP provides tools for scholars to conduct research, succeed in an academic environment, and become competitive candidates for medical school and/or graduate school. YIIP Scholars will acquire the expertise necessary to obtain a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or M.D. Overview: YIIP is an intensive research program for college graduates comprised of graduate level coursework and mentored research in biomedical laboratories at the University of Connecticut (Farmington and Storrs campuses). It provides individualized mentorship, academic support, and career guidance. YIIP Scholars earn a stipend and qualify for health insurance coverage. In addition, some tuition expenses and fees associated with required graduate level courses are waived. Upon successful completion of year one, scholars obtain a Graduate Certificate of Research Experience in Biomedical Science. In year two, Scholars who meet the academic qualifications pursue a Master of Science in Biomedical Science involving innovative mentored research. Eligibility: The selection committee is committed to the principle of IDEAL, which stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-racism, and Learning, as a plan to achieve justice and equity. We will be charging $1.00 for 2 cookies and $2.00 for 3 cookies and the proceeds will be divided equally between SAE and Theta. 75% of our half will go towards the towards CASA, more specifically the Connecticut location. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate, which is an organization that matches children from the foster care and juvenile system with a representative to serve as their support system. The other 25% will go towards the Theta Foundation. The Theta Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing funding for leadership and educational opportunities to members of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. The other 50% of the proceeds, SAE's donation, will be going towards National Marrow Donor Program, a nonprofit organization that operates the Be The Match registry, connecting patients with life-threatening blood diseases to matching bone marrow or stem cell donors.
