- Softball knocked out of BIG EAST TournamentSTORRS, Conn. – The No. 1 seed UConn Huskies fell just short at the BIG EAST Tournament. The Huskies had two opportunities to make it to Championship Saturday but fell in back to back games, ending UConn's hopes of a BIG EAST Tournament title. UConn lost in the winners bracket semi-final on Friday afternoon to Seton Hall, 6-4 putting them in an elimination game against Villanova on Friday evening. The Huskies saw a late comeback come up just short, falling 4-3.

Grace Jenkins has been tabbed the 2023 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. Lexi Hastings was a unanimous First Team selection along with Payton Kinney. Jenkins and Aziah James were named to the Second Team.

With the win, UConn has clinched a share of the BIG EAST regular season title for the second consecutive season. The last time the Huskies won back to back regular season titles was the 1996 & 1997 seasons.
