Grade smarter, not harder: rubrics November 20 at 11:30 – 12:30 Online Presenter: Lauren Schlesselman Grading rubrics are an assessment tool that helps instructors and students focus attention on the important aspects of an assignment. Rubrics promote grading practices that are consistent and free from bias. This introductory workshop explores the elements of a rubric, methods to design rubrics with and without student involvement, and how to apply them within your courses. Attendees are encouraged to bring their rubrics for small group collaborations or their syllabus and ideas for an assignment that would benefit from a rubric. Often those impacted find themselves working so hard to support their loved ones and communities they forget to pause to support themselves, to take a moment to reflect, mourn, or set aside time to be in community with each other. A brown bag is a one hour, generally (though not exclusively) intra-departmental colloquium, starting with a twenty to twenty five minute talk by a faculty member or graduate student, filled from there to the end with lively questions and answers.

Dr. David Manz will be presenting on behalf of the Carabelli Society about digital dentistry and how technology is changing the landscape of dentistry. The "Lunch & Learn" will be held virtually, but three gift cards will be raffled off to attendees.
