Presenter: Olin Green Title: "The Hidden Dimensions of Road Safety: Exploring Spatial Inequities Affecting Latino and African American Communities in Florida" Description of talk: This presentation examines the factors related to driver behavior that contribute to the unequal distribution of safety critical events, namely crashes and near-crashes, in underserved communities. It also identifies the types of areas that experience disproportionately more crashes and near-crashes, and their characteristics. By enhancing our understanding of how driver behavior and location-specific factors intersect, this analysis hopes to inform policy proposals and research that aim to alleviate the burden placed on marginalized communities by an unsafe transportation landscape.Student Biography: Olin Green is a PhD candidate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UConn, and he is enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Human Rights program.
