- Oct 132:00 PMLet's Talk with FumiStudents who may benefit from attending a Let's Talk: Mental Health Office Hours session include:Students who want help connecting to resources but are unsure where to begin Students who are looking for advice on a non-clinical issue Students who are unsure about therapy and are curious about what it is like to talk to a therapist Students who may have concerns about the mental health of a friend and seek advice on how to support their friend If a student is not an imminent risk, and is refusing your support in contacting our office, you may also consider contacting the UConn Student CARE Team (https://studentcareteam.uconn.edu/). - Oct 132:00 PMPDE and Differential Geometry Seminar by Brett Kotschwar (Arizona State University)Title: Maximal curvature growth and temporal analyticity for complete 2-D Ricci flows. Abstract: A consequence of the work of Topping and Giesen-Topping is that complete 2-D Ricci flows are unique; in higher dimensions, the uniqueness of solutions is not known to hold in general without some restriction on the growth of the curvature. In this talk, I will establish a corresponding backward uniqueness statement for general complete 2-D flows. The key ingredient is an estimate which shows that the curvature of a simply connected 2-D Ricci flow grows at most exponentially in space after some amount of time has elapsed. This estimate in turn can be used to prove the instantaneous space-time analyticity of all complete 2-D solutions. I will also discuss extensions of these latter arguments to higher dimensional flows of potentially unbounded curvature.
