- Nov 1212:45 PMDemystifying Judicial ClerkshipsAbout the Program: Members of the UConn Law Clerkship Committee as well as recent alumni will speak and answer questions about judicial clerkships and the application process in an informal setting. There will be a focus on action steps for students seeking positions in the fall of 2027 (predominantly 2L day and 3L evening division students), including planning for letters of recommendation and selecting and finalizing writing samples. Students interested in clerkships in 2026 (3LD/4LE) and 2027 (2LD/3LE) are encouraged to attend. *A note on the clerkship application timeline: while exact application deadlines vary, clerkship applications are generally due about one year in advance of the clerkship (late spring/early summer of 2LD/3LE year). However, there are additional clerkship opportunities with application deadlines in students' 3LD/4LE year.

- Nov 121:15 PMOral History of Research Done in BrazilThe presentation involves interviews with survivors of a failed state program to provide assistance to drought refugees in Northeast Brazil in 1932. This program included mandatory relocation of residents in certain areas to state sponsored concentration camps. Although local memories about the camps vary, narratives spoke about inhumane conditions and high mortality, fomenting the perception that the government's goal was to eliminate certain residents. Past events are tied to current social justice issues.Mary Kenny, Anthropology Department, ECSU
