- Nov 1412:15 PMPSLA Seminar Series: Vanessa HardenHost: Jill DesiminiLocation: YNG 132Webex:s.uconn.edu/psla_seminars (http://s.uconn.edu/psla_seminars) Building Networks, Growing Resilience: Designing for Habitat Connectivity Vanessa is an artist and designer whose work creates thought-provoking experiences in the built environment. Her current research investigates how mycorrhizal networks enable plant connectivity in cities, developing tools that integrate fungal networks into urban landscape design. She is the founder of Subversive Gardener, an award-winning non-profit focused on environmental education and public intervention, and Wild Flag Studios, a design studio producing interactive sculptures and installations worldwide. Vanessa has taught and served as a guest critic at numerous institutions; at New York University, she founded the IDM.Grow research group exploring agricultural technologies. Her projects have been featured in Vogue, The Guardian, Wired, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, CNN, and the BBC, and exhibited at venues including the Venice Biennale, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Royal Institution. She holds degrees from OCAD University, MIT Media Lab, and the Royal College of Art, and recently completed her Doctor of Design (DDes) at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
