Jailya Ash Breaks Outdoor School Record at UConn Dog Fight Invite

STORRS, Conn. - Junior sprinter and hurdler Jailya Ash broke the outdoor school record in the 100-meter hurdles at the UConn Dog Fight Invite on Saturday, March 30 with a time of 13.29 seconds.

That time shattered her previously recorded mark and placed her first in the event. In addition, that mark positioned her at first in the BIG EAST, 17th best in the east region qualifying list, and 33rd best in the nation. Ash passed Phylicia George in the UConn all-time records list breaking the record set back in 2010 with a time of 13.39 seconds. Also, A'liyah Thomas secured a second best mark all-time in outdoor in the event with a 13.34 time as Ash and Thomas placed 1 and 2 on the day.

Both athletes will compete next on Saturday, April 6 in Tampa, Fla., at the South Florida meet.
