Huskies Announce Addition of Tarris Reed Jr.

STORRS - The back-to-back national champion UConn men's basketball team has announced the addition of Tarris Reed Jr. for the 2024-25 season. Reed Jr. comes to Connecticut as a transfer after two years at Michigan and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"We are very excited to have a big man with Tarris' high major experience join our program," head coach Dan Hurley said. "His size, talent and athleticism at the center position gives us the potential to continue receiving tremendous production from that spot - which has contributed so much to our success the last two years. His work ethic fits perfectly into the culture we've established and we are really looking forward to Tarris' career as a Husky."

A 6-10 center from St. Louis, Missouri, Reed Jr. appeared in 66 career contests over two years at UM. He posted averages 6.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during his time as a Wolverine. As a sophomore in 2023-24, the big man made 31 starts and scored 9.0 points with 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game.

Reed Jr. scored a career-high 20 points against Illinois on Jan. 18 and notched three double-doubles during the season, including a 15-point, 11-rebound effort against rival Michigan State on Feb. 17.

A consensus top-35 prospect out of St. Louis, Reed Jr. prepped for three years at Chaminade College Prep before spending his senior season at Link Year Academy. He was a two-time All-State selection and the 2021 Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 6 Player of the Year. He participated in both the Jordan Brand Classic and the Iverson Classic following his senior season. On the AAU circuit, Reed Jr. played with Mokan Elite and helped his squad to a third-place finish at 2021 EYBL Nationals.

Reed Jr. joins an incoming class of Huskies that currently includes rising freshmen Ahmad Nowell and Isaiah Abraham, who signed National Letters of Intent in November.
