Big East Announces MBB Conference Schedule For 23-24
NEW YORK – The BIG EAST conference announced the 20-game league slate for the 2023-24 UConn men's basketball team on Friday (Sept. 15). Connecticut will face each league foe twice in a home-and-home round robin, beginning on Dec. 20 and concluding on March 9.
Home venue selection will be announced after tip times and television designations are determined by the BIG EAST. UConn's 16-game home schedule will feature eight games in Gampel Pavilion and eight at the XL Center.
The conference slate tips off on Dec. 20 when the defending national champions visit Seton Hall in Newark. Three days later, UConn kicks off its home slate on Dec. 23 as it welcomes St. John's.
After ringing in 2024 with a Jan. 2 home game against DePaul, the Huskies hit the road for contests at Butler on Jan. 5 and at Xavier on Jan. 10. A two-game homestand follows, with Georgetown visiting on Jan. 14 before Creighton comes to town on Jan. 17. UConn then travels to the Wells Fargo Center to take on Villanova on Saturday, Jan. 20.
An eight-day break awaits before the Huskies jump back into action by hosting Xavier on Jan. 28 and welcoming Providence on Jan. 31. UConn opens February at its home away from home, taking on St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 3. The match-up will be one of four regular season contests for the Huskies at The World's Most Famous Arena this season.
A home contest against Butler is slated for Feb. 6 before a two-game road swing sees the Huskies taking on Georgetown in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 10 and visiting DePaul on Feb. 14 in Chicago. Defending league champion Marquette visits UConn on Feb. 17 before a road game at Creighton Feb. 20.
The Huskies play host to Villanova on Feb. 24 for a Saturday showdown, then close the home slate after a bye when they welcome Seton Hall on March 3. The league slate closes with a pair of road contests – at Marquette on March 6 and at Providence on March 9. The BIG EAST Tournament will be held at The Garden from March 13-16.
Last season the Huskies went 13-7 in BIG EAST play and bowed out in the semifinals of the conference tournament before going on a run to the fifth national championship in program history. The 2023-24 season will be UConn's fourth since returning to the BIG EAST and the 38th season for UConn in the league overall. The Huskies are 362-252 (.590) all-time in BIG EAST play and have won or shared 10 regular season titles and seven BIG EAST Tournament titles.
The Huskies previously announced their non-conference schedule, featuring a loaded slate that includes contests with Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Gonzaga and either Texas or Louisville.
