UConn MBB To Face Indiana In Empire Classic

PRINCETON, N.J. – The UConn men's basketball team will meet Indiana University in the semifinal round of the Empire Classic on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at Madison Square Garden, at 1 p.m. as announced on Monday by tournament officials.
Texas and Louisville will square off in the second half of Sunday's doubleheader. The third-place game and championship game of the event will take place on Monday, Nov. 20, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Garden. Television coverage for the tournament will be announced at a later date.
The Empire Classic, benefiting Wounded Warrior Project and presented by Continental Tire, is in its 28th year, starting in 1995. This season's event marks the 10th anniversary of UConn's thrilling 59-58 victory over Indiana in the championship game of the 2013 Empire Classic, then known as the 2K Sports Classic.
UConn and Indiana have met 10 times on the basketball court, with the Huskies holding a 6-4 edge. The last meeting between the teams was on Dec. 10, 2019, a 57-54 Indiana win at the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. UConn won the previous two meetings – at the 2K Sports Classic in 2013, and a 68-63 triumph on Jan. 26, 2008, at Assembly Hall in Indiana.

- Huskies Add Mike Nardi To MBB Coaching StaffSTORRS – The UConn men's basketball team and head coach Dan Hurley have announced the addition of Mike Nardi to the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Nardi comes to Storrs after a decade on the coaching staff at his alma mater Villanova, most recently serving as the program's interim head coach after seven years as an assistant.
- UConn Announces Home-and-Home With ArizonaSTORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has announced a home-and-home series with perennial power Arizona, set to begin on Nov. 19, 2025 in Connecticut. The Huskies will return the game on Nov. 18, 2026 in Tucson.
- Huskies Land Transfer Guard Malachi SmithSTORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has further bolstered its backcourt with the addition of high-impact transfer Malachi Smith. The 6'0 lead guard and Bronx, N.Y. native has signed an aid agreement to join the Huskies for the 2025-26 campaign after spending four seasons at Dayton. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
- Huskies Ink Top Transfer Silas Demary Jr.STORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has picked up a pledge from Silas Demary Jr., with the 6-5 guard signing an aid agreement on Thursday (April 3). Demary (pronounced dem-uh-ree) Jr. joins the Huskies after two seasons at Georgia, where he was a double-figure scorer and All-Freshman team selection. He will join Connecticut for the 2025-26 season with two years of eligibility remaining.
