Huskies To Face Rhody In Exhibition at Mohegan Sun
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has announced the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Game benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer as part of Enshrinement Weekend. The UConn men's basketball team will take on the University of Rhode Island in an exhibition contest at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday, Oct. 14.
The Huskies have natural ties to the Rams as charter members of the original Yankee Conference and through head coach Dan Hurley, who had a successful six-year stint at Rhody from 2012-18 which included back-to-back NCAA bids in 2017 and 2018. UConn and URI have played a total of 145 times in a series dating back to 1906-07. That makes Rhode Island the most-played opponent of any in program history. While the exhibition will not count towards the all-time series, UConn leads 77-68.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide partnership between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The program brings together coaches, fans, and the basketball community to support the American Cancer Society's efforts in advancing cancer research, providing patient support, and advocating for those affected by the disease. Currently raising over $10 million annually, the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative has raised more than $167 million to help fulfill the mission of ending cancer. The charity game was approved by an NCAA waiver. Tickets for the 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Game will go on sale on Friday, September 13, via Ticketmaster and at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office starting Saturday, September 14.
Additional details surrounding game time, broadcast information, and credentials will be announced at a later date. For more information, please visit hoophall.com.
