- Jun 1910:00 AMUDL and Assessment: How to Critically Assess your AssessmentThe purpose of this talk is to introduce the Variations Planning Tool (VPT) to identify barriers within assessment processes and the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework as a tool to design instruction and curricula that support variation in learners' needs, abilities, and interests. The UDL guidelines emphasize providing supports and options for how students receive information (representation), demonstrate their understanding (action and expression), and engage with the content (engagement). Attendees will have the opportunity to: 1) reflect on their role in designing assessment that supports learner variability; and 2) practice applying the VPT and UDL guidelines to identify barriers in common assessment practices.
