The Question of Utopia
Throughout the history of human thought artists, philosophers and political theorists have envisioned Utopian societies. The concept of an ideal intentional society that represents the best in human possibility may be an aspirational goal but can also serve as a form of social criticism without having to be achievable reality. A second meaning of utopia is the perfect society that nowhere exists and never could. This course traces the origins of the utopian concept and follows its career in seminal moments of human history, and also considers notion that we may well have reached the end of history. Walk with a Doc Monthly Walk
The UConn School of Medicine Walk with a Doc (WWAD) is part of the national WWAD organization and we host a monthly walk in West Hartford, CT that is preceded by a brief talk about a common health issue by a community physician. To join our walks, simply come to Elizabeth Park Pond House in West Hartford, CT at 9am on the third Saturday of the month. We welcome people of all ages, the topics of conversation lead by the physician that month implicate patients of a wide range. We are also very welcoming of our four-legged friends, the park is very popular for dogs and we love when people bring theirs!
