The Cato T. Laurencin Institute Begins The Healing Power of Music Series
The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering co-sponsored Samara Joy’s “A Joyful Holiday” performance at UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on December 14, 2024.
Throughout the night, Samara, along with her family on stage, played renditions of Christmas songs for a jazz-filled evening. The event marked the launch of The Healing Power of Music Series by The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering.
The Healing Power of Music Series was created to promote the Institute’s work in regenerative engineering. Laurencin and his Institute work to explore how music has the capacity to influence tissue regeneration.
UConn’s University Professor Laurencin is the Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UConn School of Medicine. He earned an M.D., magna cum laude, from the Harvard Medical School, and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the recipient of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation in ceremonies at the White House.
