Dr. Afroditi Pita Recognized for Scholarly Accomplishments
The School of Dental Medicine announced that Dr. Afroditi Pita, assistant professor of general dentistry, is the recipient of the 2025 School of Dental Medicine Peter J. Robinson award.
This award, given to junior faculty, recognizes significant scholarly research or teaching accomplishments during the previous academic year.
“My heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Pita, the 2025 recipient of this award,” said Dr. Anna Dongari-Bagtzoglou, professor and associate dean of faculty affairs. “This annual award was established with a generous donation by Dean Emeritus Peter Robinson approximately 20 years ago, and currently, with Dean Lepowsky’s support it continues to recognize outstanding junior faculty in the School of Dental Medicine. Dr Pita was selected by the Faculty Development Committee for this award because she distinguished herself not only as leader in curriculum development, but also as a scholar with a sustained publication record since joining our faculty a few years ago.”
A subcommittee of senior members from the Faculty Development Advisory Committee reviews nominations for the award and makes a recommendation to the School of Dental Medicine dean.
“We are delighted to celebrate Dr. Afroditi Pita’s achievement in receiving the School of Dental Medicine’s Peter J, Robinson’s Award for junior faculty,” said Dr. Aadarsh Gopalakrishna, chair of general dentistry. “This honors her dedication and passion for advancing scholarly activities and for her accomplishments in the areas of teaching and mentoring.
