Podcast: Skin Cancer Risk — Spray It Away?
Dr. Jenna Kelsey, UConn Health dermatologist, discusses sunscreen concerns

Whether the worry is over absorbing sunscreen’s chemicals through our skin or through our lungs with the spray version, or potential threats to the ocean’s ecosystem, should these concerns change our minds about using sunscreen?
Dr. Jenna Kelsey, UConn Health dermatologist, says studies indeed have indicated some chemicals from sunscreen can make their way into our bloodstream, but that’s not as daunting as it may sound. She discusses the risks and benefits of sunscreen on the UConn Health Pulse podcast.
Any sunscreen is better than nothing. But if you are worried about some of these concerns, then just stick to the physical blockers or the mineral sunscreens, which are not absorbed into the body whatsoever. — Dr. Jenna Kelsey
