In Memoriam: Corina Morris, CLAS Academic Advisor

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences remembers longtime academic advisor Corina Morris, who supported generations of UConn students with compassion, care, and a deep commitment to their success

Corina Morris, an advisor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Academic Services Center, passed away on Oct. 12 at the age of 51.

Corina joined the University of Connecticut in 2005 and was one of the College’s longest-serving academic advisors. She was a trusted guide to generations of students, most recently supporting majors in the Cognitive Science Program.

During her time at UConn, Corina played a central role in coordinating the College’s annual orientation programming, helping ensure that incoming first-year and transfer students felt welcomed and supported as they transitioned to the University. She advised students pursuing Experiential Global Learning opportunities, guiding them in integrating international experiences into their academic plans while staying on track for graduation.

As an academic success advisor, Corina worked closely with students who needed additional support, offering encouragement and connecting them with the resources they needed to thrive. She also served as the liaison to the Center for Access and Postsecondary Success, where she supported and mentored many first-generation and low-income students.

Corina took great pride in helping students clarify their goals, chart their paths, and succeed both academically and personally. Colleagues remember her for the genuine warmth she brought to her work, along with her love of singing and infectious laugh. Her empathy, insight, and deep care for the students will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working with her.
