HookC Hosts Pair Of Midweeks at Elliot

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (12-16) hosts a pair of midweek games against America East opponents at Elliot Ballpark with a Tuesday, April 9 against Bryant (3:05 p.m.) and on Wednesday, April 10 against Maine (3:05 p.m.). Both games can be seen for free on UConn+ and will both be on Fox Sports Radio 97.9 FM & AM 1300.

The Bulldogs (19-10) come to Storrs riding an eight-game winning streak and their 8-1 conference mark places them in first place in the America East Conference. Gavin Noriega leads the team in batting average (.360) home runs (10), RBI (28), runs scored (32) and OBP (.482). 

UConn is 11-4-1 in the all-time series against the Bulldogs 

The reigning America East champs and NCAA Tournament participants, the Maine Black Bears, enter the week at 7-19. Jeremiah Jenkins leads the team with 12 home runs and 25 runs batted in. 

Wednesday marks the first time the two programs are meeting since a meeting in Storrs in 2004. The Huskies and Black Bears have a deep history with the first meeting coming back in 1924. The Huskies lead the all-time series 63-51. 

The Huskies are coming off a 3-1 week with a series win against Xavier to open BIG EAST Conference play. UConn received big time pitching on Saturday and Sunday to earn the series win. Garrett Coe fired 7.1 strong innings of work on Saturday and Stephen Quigley tossed seven shutout frames. LHP Braden Quinn pitched in both games, going 2.2 innings, allowing two hits, no runs and five strikeouts.
