Softball Heads to Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, D.C. – UConn softball will close out their regular season slate this weekend as they will take on the Georgetown Hoyas in a three game series. The series will begin on Friday, May 3 with a doubleheader beginning at 3:00pm. All games will be streamed on YouTube

UConn (27-22) is coming into the final weekend of the regular season sitting in third place in the BIG EAST standings at 13-8. The Huskies are only one game behind second place Creighton (14-7) who hosts the Providence Friars this weekend.

UConn's pitching was rock solid in the month of April and will look to carry over their dominance in the circle into May. As a staff in April, the Huskies pitchers held a 2.62 era, holding opposing hitters to a .203 batting average against them. UConn's three senior pitchers Payton Kinney, Hallie Siems, and Meghan O'Neil have all carried the torch for the staff this season. The three of them have accounted for 118 of the Huskies 123 strikeouts during this month's stretch.

Georgetown (14-30) is coming off a series loss at Providence a weekend ago. The Hoyas are coached by fellow Husky great Pat Conlan who is in her 17th season at Georgetown. UConn won last year's series in Storrs. The all-time series record is 8-8 between the two programs.

The series opener is set for Friday, May 3 with a doubleheader starting at 3:00pm with the second game to follow at 5:30pm. The series finale will be on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00pm.
