Huskies Set to Host Hockey East Quarterfinals Against Holy Cross
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team prepares for the postseason hosting the Hockey East playoffs at Toscano Family Ice Forum. The Huskies will take on Holy Cross in the quarterfinals game on Saturday, March 2.
Entering the matchup, the Huskies finished the regular season ranked No. 11 in the USCHO national poll with an overall record of 22-7-5 and a conference record of 19-4-4. UConn ended up being the top seed and won as regular season champions for the first time in program history. To close out the season, UConn swept Boston University on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24. Leading the way all season was the play from senior forward Jada Habisch with 25 points including 15 goals scored and 10 assists. The Hockey East awards announcement was made this past week as freshman Ashley Allard made Hockey East All-Rookie Team, senior Kat Stockdale made Hockey East Best Defensive Forward, graduate Camryn Wong and Habisch both made Hockey East First Team All-Star and junior Tia Chan made Hockey East Second Team All-Star, respectively.
Scouting Holy Cross
Heading into the matchup, the Crusaders in the regular season finished 8-23-3 overall and 4-20-3 in Hockey East action. The Crusaders finished 10th in the standings. Last time out, Holy Cross upset Boston University on Wednesday, Feb. 28 by a score of 4-2, making that its first time winning a postseason game in program history.
Back in the regular season, the Huskies swept the three-game series. UConn is 16-3 now in all-time faceoffs against the Crusaders.
