HookC Lands Northeast Best Seven On ABCA All-Region
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team landed a Northeast-best seven student-athletes on the 2024 ABCA All-Northeast Region team.
OF Korey Morton, RHP Stephen Quigley and LHP Garrett Coe earned First Team All-Northeast status while 3B Luke Broadhurst, SS Paul Tammaro, RHP Ian Cooke and RHP Brady Afthim each garnered second team accolades.
Morton led the Huskies with a .333 AVG with a team-best 81 hits including 19 doubles and added 44 runs scored, 11 home runs, 49 runs batted in and 19 stolen bases.
All three starters in the UConn weekend rotation earned All-Northeast honors. Coe led UConn with nine victories on the mound while tying Quigley with 103.1 innings pitched.
Quigley led the starters with a 3.92 ERA and had a team-high 87 strikeouts. The BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year, Cooke, won five games and in 67.1 innings struck out 85 and held batters to a .222 batting average.
Luke Broadhurst led the Huskies with 15 home runs and drove in a team-high 58 RBI. The Stafford Springs, Conn. native slugged at a .587 clip and hit .303.
Tammaro was one of the best defensive shortstops in the country with just six errors on the season and only committed two in the final 55 games of the season. At the plate, the Rivervale, N.J. native hit .310 with a team-best 55 runs scored including nine in the NCAA Tournament. He added 72 hits, 31 walks and was third in UConn single-season history with 26 hit by pitches.
At the back end of games, Afthim led the Huskies with eight saves and led the team with a .186 batting average against and a 2.49 earned run average.
