Huskies Finish Tied for Eighth at BIG EAST Championship

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The UConn men's golf team finished up play at the 2024 BIG EAST Championship presented by JEEP on Monday afternoon at the Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club.  The Huskies finished the three-day event tied for eighth overall in the field.

UConn shot a combined 54-hole score of 899, tying with Georgetown for eighth.  The Huskies shot 313 on Saturday's first round and then rebounded with matching 293 scores on Sunday and Monday, finishing +35 over the three-day tournament.  Seton Hall University was the team winner with a 872 (+8) score while St. John's Peicheng Chen was the individual champion shooting a -2 under 214 to claim an NCAA Regional spot.

The Huskies were led by junior Ray Dennehy (Princeton, Mass.) who finished tied for 13th overall in the field shooting 222 (79-72-71).  Dennehy shot even par 72 on Sunday and went -1 under (71) on Monday's final round.

Freshman Alex Heard (Boca Raton, Fla.) was tied for 28th overall and had the lowest round of any Husky at the event with a 69 (-3) on Sunday's second round.  Heard finished at 226 (82-69-75) for the weekend.  Heard led the Huskies with 11 birdies over the tournament.

Senior Jimmy Paradise (Tampa, Fla.) and sophomore Connor Goode (Glastonbury, Conn.) were tied for 34th overall.  Paradise shot 78, 75 and 75 to post a 228 while Goode matched that total score by shooting 79, 77 and a par 72 on Monday.  Goode led all golfers in the field with 39 pars over the 54-holes. Senior Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) was tied for 39th overall with a 231 (77-77-77).
