Pair of Huskies Taken in the CFL Draft

STORRS, Conn. - Former UConn wide receiver Kevens Clercius (Montreal, Quebec) was selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2024 Canadian Football League Draft on Tuesday night.

The Blue Bombers used their first pick of the night coming in the second round, the 13th pick overall, to take the UConn wideout.  Over three seasons with the Huskies, Clercius appeared in 37 games.  He caught 49 career passes for 604 career yards and five touchdowns.  He averaged 12.3 yards per catch.  He had his best season in 2022 when he hauled 24 passes for 288 yards and a score.  In 2021 he caught 20 passes and three touchdowns on the season.

Former UConn tight end Russell Dixon (Edmonton, Alberta), who played for the Huskies from 2019 through 2022, was drafted in the eighth round by the Ottawa Redblacks with 67th pick. He played in 15 career games with three catches.
