Kaitlyn Chen Signs with UConn

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's basketball head coach Geno Auriemma announced the addition of transfer guard Kaitlyn Chen to the program for the 2024-25 season.

A 5-foot-9 point guard, Chen was on the roster at Princeton for four seasons. She will have one year of eligibility at UConn.

"I picked UConn because of the environment," Chen said. "The coaches and players made me feel extremely welcome. I am super excited about this upcoming year. I believe this place will push me to become a better version of myself both on and off the court."

Chen compiled 1,276 points, 313 rebounds and 359 assists as a Tiger. She ranks third in Princeton history in assists and 12th in points.

Chen was the 2023 Ivy League Player of the Year, averaging 16.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as a junior. She notched 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists as a senior in 2023-24. Chen was First Team All-Ivy in both seasons and was a 2024 WBCA Honorable Mention All-America selection.

A native of San Marino, Calif., she helped Princeton to three Ivy League regular season championships, three Ivy League Tournament championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Chen was the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player for all three titles.

Chen was also a 2024 Academic All-Ivy selection and a CSC Second Team Academic All-American.

At Princeton, Chen played for head coach Carla Berube, a 1997 graduate of UConn and a member of UConn's 1995 national championship team.

Chen will graduate from Princeton later this month with a bachelor's degree in anthropology.
