UConn’s Haynes Named to AP All-American Team
STORRS, Conn. – For the second-straight season, UConn r-senior offensive lineman Christian Haynes (Bowie, Md.) has been named to the Associated Press All-American team. Haynes was tabbed to the third team offense among this year's All-American selections.
Haynes becomes the first Husky in the program's FBS era to garner All-American honors in two separate seasons. Last season, Haynes earned a third team nod by the AP as well as being named to the Sporting News All-American second team. Haynes became the third player in UConn's FBS era to earn All-American honors, joining former running backs Jordan Todman (2010) and Donald Brown (2008). UConn has had 35 All-Americans dating back to 1955 and Haynes is the sixth offensive lineman in program history to reach All-American status.
The Bowie, Md. native was named an Associated Press Mid-Season All-American (2nd team) back in October and has accepted an invitation to play in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl next month. He was also invited to play in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl.
He finished the season starting all 12 games for the Huskies and anchored a UConn offensive line that allowed just 12 sacks on the season (1.0 pg), ranking 9th in FBS among the nation's leaders. Haynes finished his UConn career making 49 straight starts along the offensive line.
