Women's Cross Country Takes Second at Providence Friar Invitational
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Even in extreme heat conditions, the University of Connecticut women's cross country team put up solid results to close out the modified 4k race at the Providence Friar Invitational Friday afternoon at the Mark Coogan Course.
The Huskies took on the course among three other teams; New Hampshire, Providence, and Stonybrook. The Huskies finished second overall in the team standings with a finish scoring order of 2-7-9-11-12=41.
Individually, Chloe Thomas took second with a time of 14:03.2. Then, Jenna Zydanowicz (14:28.3) and Caroline Towle (14:41.6) took top 10 finishes. Additionally, eight UConn runners finished before Providence's seven. However, in the team final scoring, Providence would place first with 25 points with a finish order of 1-3-5-6-10.
To note for the men's team, Chris Lepore placed second individually in the men's modified 6k race with a 18:13.7 time.
The Huskies will next compete at the Battle in Beantown in Boston, Mass.
