Another One: Chloe Thomas Wins USTFCCCA Northeast Region Athlete of the Year

STORRS, Conn.- Senior Chloe Thomas was named the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Female Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Thomas finished ninth at the 2024 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships, eight days after winning the individual title at the Northeast Region Championships. During the regular season, Thomas also took top individual honors at the BIG EAST Championships, Paul Short Run and the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. The senior from Dundas, Ontario set course records at the Region Championships, BIG EAST Championships, Paul Short Run, and Spiked Shoe Invitational.

The 9th place finish at the NCAA Championships earned Thomas All-American honors, only the third Husky to do so in UConn women's cross country history, also the highest individual finish by a UConn runner in the NCAA Championships.

Thomas was named BIG EAST Athlete of the week twice this season, and USTFCCCA Female Athlete of the Week in October after her performance at the Paul Short Run.

Quote from Director of Track & Field and Head Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan:

"A huge congrats to Chloe. Northeast Regional Athlete of the Year was well earned and combines well with BIG EAST Athlete of the Year and her 9th place NCAA finish. Chloe has established herself as UConn's best cross country runner ever! Excited for her track season's ahead!"
