Volleyball Wraps up Road Trip in Providence

STORRS, Conn.- UConn volleyball concludes their three match road-trip on Wednesday night against Providence College. The Huskies are looking to rebound after dropping the first two matches of the trip against Xavier and DePaul last weekend.

In the two defeats, Hanna Tylska and Taylor Pannell had the most kills for UConn, tallying 32 and 25, respectively. Doga Kutlu had 77 assists and 38 digs on the weekend, and Anna Herman had 14 total blocks for the Huskies defensively. UConn swept Providence in the earlier meeting between the teams in Storrs on October 9th. Tylska had 11 kills to lead the Huskies in the win, with Kutlu pouring in 30 assists and 17 digs.

Providence comes in to the match still searching for their first win in conference play, dropping their matches against DePaul and Xavier last weekend as well. Shaliyah Rhoden is the kill-leader for the Friars with 3.03 kills/set in conference play, chipping in 8 terminations against UConn in the first matchup between the teams. Outside Hitter Sophia Adkins has the most aces recorded in a conference single match with 6 against Georgetown on 10/5.

The Huskies find themselves in the middle of the pack of a tightly contested BIG EAST race, tied at fourth with Villanova and Xavier at 6-4. The top six teams in the BIG EAST will qualify for the conference tournament in the end of November.

UConn will return home this weekend on Saturday to face Butler after the road trip concludes.
