Three Huskies Named to Opening Weekend All-Tournament Team
STORRS, Conn.- The UConn Challenge All-Tournament Team was announced this morning. Three Huskies led the way after a 3-0 weekend, led by MVP Emma Werkmeister, who had 45 kills, and 7 aces in 3 wins for host UConn. Doga Kutlu joined Werkmeister on the team with 118 assists and 36 digs. Freshman McKenna Brand rounded out the UConn trio, with an impressive performance, chipping in 35 digs in her first collegiate matches.
Other selections:
Camryn Luginbuhl and Gabby Zovko were selected for Sacred Heart. Luginbuhl had 42 kills in a 2-1 weekend for the Pioneers, with seven aces throughout the weekend. Zovko had 83 assists and 28 digs for the Pioneers. Abbie Householder was named to the team for Youngstown State. Householder had 22 kills and led team in a 5 set win over LIU.
Camelia Melendez was selected for LIU with 40 kills to lead the Sharks.
