Brand Wins BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
STORRS, Conn.- Freshman DS/L McKenna Brand has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
On Friday against DePaul, Brand had 19 digs, and 3 assists. In the win over Xavier on Saturday, the freshman from Texas had 14 digs, 4 assists, and 2 service aces. On the weekend, Brand averaged 5.50 digs per set, as the Huskies went 1-1, closing their home record at 14-1 at the UConn Volleyball Center.
Volleyball will wrap up their regular season this weekend on the road against St. John's and Villanova, with hopes to officially clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.
