Huskies Fall in 4 sets to Xavier
Cincinnati, Ohio – The UConn women's volleyball team fell in four sets to Xavier University Sunday afternoon. Junior Taylor Pannell finished the game with 13 kills, while Cera Powell and Emma Werkmeister finished with 11.
The Huskies and Musketeers traded points back and forth, with both teams keeping the game close. Xavier eventually pulled away midway through the match, but a 6-0 run by the Huskies helped them fight their way back into the match. UConn relied heavily on its serving, to cut into the Xavier lead. After cutting the Musketeers lead to one, Xavier called a timeout to regroup. After the timeout, Xavier found it's stride again to take set one by a final of 25-23.
The two teams continued to battle in the second set. Xavier once again jumped out to an early lead, but the Huskies fought back and tied the game. After trading points back and forth, UConn eventually took the 23-22 lead. Emma Werkmeister led the way for the Huskies in the second set with her serving and offensive firepower. UConn was able to close out the set and win by a final of 28-26 to tie the match at one set apiece.
After the second set victory, Xavier took control. Xavier came out firing in the third set, taking the lead and never looking back. The Musketeers finished the third set with 18 total kills and zero errors. UConn bounced back in the fourth set, but the Xavier attack was too tough for the Huskies. Taylor Pannell found her stride in the fourth set, keeping the Huskies close. Despite the effort from the Huskies, Xavier's offense was too much to handle as they finished the fourth set with 16 total kills and won the fourth set 25-23. Pannell finished the match with 13 total kills, while Emma Werkmeister and Cera Powell finished with 11.

The Huskies will return home for the final two home games of the regular season. The Huskies will welcome Georgetown on Friday November 17, before closing out the regular season with a match against Villanova on November 18. Both games can be streamed live on Flo Sports.
