Volleyball Back On The Road This Weekend Against Seton Hall and Georgetown
STORRS, Conn.- UConn Volleyball (20-4, 8-4) is back on the road this weekend for matches against Seton Hall and Georgetown to continue BIG EAST play in November.
The Huskies had a bounce back week, putting together strong team efforts in victories over Providence and Butler. UConn was led by Taylor Pannell, who made the BIG EAST Honor Roll, averaging 3.57 kills/set and 1.29 blocks/set. Loren Winn took home BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, with 3.14 k/set, 1.29 digs/set, and 0.86 blocks/set. UConn was boosted with the return of Emma Werkmeister made her return for the Huskies, after missing the previous six matches with an injury.
Seton Hall Snapshot (9-14, 3-9 BIG EAST)
UConn will first head to South Orange, New Jersey to take on the Pirates on Friday evening. Seton Hall snapped a four match losing streak last Sunday, sweeping Xavier on the road for their biggest win of the season. Perri Lucas had a match-high 10 kills and Maddie Klungel had 29 assists, 11 digs, and 7 kills for the Hall in the win. Earlier this season, UConn took down Seton Hall in Storrs, 3-1, with Werkmeister pouring in a match-high 18 kills in the victory.
Georgetown (9-15, 2-10 BIG EAST)
The Huskies will wrap up the weekend in the nation's capital against Georgetown. The Hoyas also bounced back last Sunday after dropping their previous eight matches, winning a five-set thriller in Chicago over DePaul. Mary Grace Goyena had 15 kills in the effort, as they battled back down 2 sets to 1, taking the fourth set 25-23 and fifth frame 16-14. In the first matchup, UConn swept Georgetown in Storrs on October 4th. Werkmeister, Pannell, and Hanna Tylska each had double-digit kills. Georgetown will welcome in Providence on Friday before the Huskies roll in on Sunday afternoon.
