Olivia Wright Named BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week
STORRS, Conn. - Senior Olivia Wright has been announced as the BIG EAST women's Singles Player of the Week after her performances against Xavier and Eastern Kentucky.
Playing at no.1 singles, Olivia Wright registered a pair of wins to secure a 2-0 weekend for the Huskies. Wright won in straight sets over Xavier to help the Huskies defeat the four-time reigning BIG EAST Champions. Additionally, Wright followed up her performance over Xavier with a defeat of Eastern Kentucky in three sets.
"What an awesome accomplishment for Olivia to win Big East Singles Player of the Week," said head coach Glenn Marshall. "She led our team to victory over Xavier and Eastern Kentucky this past weekend at the number 1 singles position. I am very proud of her and the team, for some very high-level wins."
