Softball Falls in Series Opener at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The UConn softball team lost to the Seton Hall Pirates, 5-0 on Friday afternoon at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field.

Hallie Siems got the nod in game one of the series, making her 23rd start of the season for the Huskies. She went 5.2 innings giving up four runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

The game was a pitcher's duel through the first five innings as both teams combined for only four hits.

Siems did well to keep the Pirates off the board, stranding the bases loaded in the third and fifth innings.

Seton Hall broke the deadlock in the sixth inning, scoring five runs on four hits.

Hope Jenkins came on in relief for Siems in the middle of the sixth inning, getting UConn out of the inning.

UConn continued to fight but could not find a way to manufacture any runs against Seton Hall's starter, Kelsey Carr.
