STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team will host the Butler Bulldogs this weekend for a three-game series in Storrs. The series is set to begin on Friday, April 4 with a doubleheader beginning at 3:00pm, with the second game to follow after the conclusion of game one, slated tentatively for 5:30pm. UConn is coming off a series win at Creighton last weekend and picked up a midweek win at Boston College on Tuesday, giving the Huskies six wins in their last seven games. UConn is currently in second place in the BIG EAST standings with a 7-2 record through three conference series.

UConn's offense has been firing on all cylinders in BIG EAST play this season, leading the conference in batting average (.363), runs (83), home runs (16), and slugging percentage (.644) through just nine conference games. The Huskies have received contributions up and down the lineup this season, as UConn has six players hitting above .345 and eight players with at least ten runs batted in. Sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Breslin has been UConn's hottest hitter at the plate in this recent stretch of games. In her last eight games, Breslin has a .654 batting average with 17 hits, 7 home runs, and 19 RBI. She has earned back to back BIG EAST Player of the Week honors.

UConn's pitching staff has found their groove, earning back to back shutouts for the first time this season. Graduate student Payton Kinney tossed a complete game shutout in Sunday's win at Creighton. Redshirt-sophomore Sydnee Koosh followed Kinney with a complete game shutout performance of her own at Boston College on Tuesday, the first of her career. Koosh added a game high seven strikeouts in the win.
