Softball Clinches Series Win over Seton Hall
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team defeated the Seton Hall Pirates, 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Burrill Family Field. The win clinches the season series against Seton Hall, moving UConn to 4-1 in BIG EAST play.
Redshirt-sophomore Sydnee Koosh made her tenth start of the season in the circle for the Huskies. Koosh went 3.1 innings giving up one earned run on three hits with one strikeout.
UConn's offense came out strong, scoring runs in each of the first four innings. The Huskies opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on a sac fly from freshman infielder Cat Petteys, scoring Grace Jenkins from third base.
Seton Hall tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second inning.
UConn punched back in the bottom half of the second inning off the bat of Grace Jenkins. The junior catcher came up clutch with a two-out double to left center, scoring Kaitlyn Kibling and Savannah Ring, putting the Huskies back in front, 3-1.
UConn scored two more runs in the third inning. Freshman catcher Heidi Barber dropped a perfect sac bunt with runners on the corners, scoring Petteys on the squeeze play from third base. The Seton Hall catcher had an errand throw go into left field trying to catch pinch runner Rayah Snyder advance to third base. The bad throw allowed Snyder to score and Barber to move all the way to third base, making it 5-1.

Junior Hope Jenkins came on in relief for Koosh in the fourth inning. Jenkins shut the door on the Pirates, not allowing a hit in the final four innings. The California native picks up her fifth win of the season for the Huskies.
UConn once again punched back in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring a run to give the Huskies a four run lead once again. Senior infielder Rosie Garcia knocked in her 19th run of the season with a single to left field, scoring Kaiea Higa from second base, making it 6-2.

- Rosie Garcia recorded her second consecutive multi-hit game, giving her a team high ten multi-hit games this season.
- Kaiea Higa recorded back to back multi-hit games, giving her seven this season. Higa has five hits in her last three games. Her two doubles tied a game high for the Huskies this season.
- Kaitlyn Breslin recorded her second consecutive multi-hit game, giving her five this season. Breslin has now reached base safely in seven consecutive games and has six hits in her last three games.
- Grace Jenkins recorded her team high eighth multi-RBI game this season. Jenkins has four hits in her last three games.
- UConn stole four bases, one away from their game high this season.
- UConn scored first for the 16th time this season.
- Lexi Hastings had her seven game hitting streak snapped.

UConn's 22 runs were a season high and the second most runs the Huskies have scored in a game in program history. The 40 combined runs were the most in any UConn game in program history and is the highest scoring game in the country this season.
- Huskies Fall In Game One at CreightonOMAHA, Neb. – The UConn softball team fell to the Creighton Bluejays, 7-6 in extra innings in game one at the CU Sports Complex. Game two was suspended in the top of the sixth inning with UConn leading, 21-18. The game will be resumed on Saturday, March 29 at 2:00pm EST in the top of the sixth inning.
