Softball drops the series at St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. – The UConn softball team lost, 5-1 to the St. John's Red Storm on Saturday afternoon. 

Hallie Siems got the nod in game two making her 18th start of the season. Siems only faced six batters in the first inning before being pulled for Hope Jenkins, giving up two runs on two hits with one strikeout. Jenkins went 4.2 innings in the circle giving up three runs on five hits with three strikeouts. 

St. John's jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings scoring two runs in the first and three runs in the second.  

UConn's offense struggled to find key hits, leaving nine runners on base. 

UConn scored their lone run of the game in the sixth inning off the bat of Jana Sanden as she doubled to left field, scoring pinch runner Rayah Snyder from third base. 

Meghan O'Neil came on in relief for Jenkins in the sixth inning tossing a 1-2-3 inning.
