Huskies Voted to Finish Second in BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll
NEW YORK – The UConn softball team has been picked to finish second in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll. The Huskies received two first place votes from BIG EAST coaches totaling 57 points, four points behind Villanova.
UConn is coming into the 2025 season, returning a majority of their lineup from a season ago, including the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year in Lexi Hastings (Lynchburg, Va.). The senior outfielder led the league last season in batting average (.500), hits (37), on base percentage (.537), triples (2), and stolen bases (16).
The Huskies also return four All-Conference selections from last season in Rosie Garcia (First Team), Grace Jenkins (Second Team), Hope Jenkins (Second Team), and Payton Kinney (Second Team), boasting the most repeat selections with three in Hastings ('24, '23, '22), Kinney ('24, '23), and Grace Jenkins ('24, '23).
