Softball Standout Kaitlyn Breslin Receives National Recognition

STORRS, Conn. – UConn standout sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Breslin has been recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and D1 Softball as the national Player of the Week. She was also named to the Softball America Stars of the Week. Breslin becomes the first player in program history to receive these prestigious awards.

This past weekend at Creighton, Breslin led the Huskies with a .750 batting average, recording six hits, five being home runs. The Massachusetts native had a historical performance at the plate in game two of the series, hitting four home runs in the game tying a NCAA single-game record only done by a handful of players in NCAA softball history. Breslin worked a bases loaded walk in her first bat, and then proceeded to hit four homers in a row, a solo shot in the second, a two-run shot in the third, another solo shot in the fifth, and a two-run blast in the sixth, finishing with a career high seven RBI in the game. For the weekend, Breslin finished with eleven runs batted in, eight runs scored, four walks, and a 2.625 slugging percentage. She started all three games in right field, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on six putouts.

Breslin was recently named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
