WSOC Play Georgetown in Semi's, Four Huskies All-BIG EAST

BOYDS, MD - The UConn women's soccer team (11-4-4) continues its journey through the BIG EAST Championship with a semifinal match up against top-seeded Georgetown (12-2-4) on Thursday, November 7 at 7:34 p.m. at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

The semifinal pairing is a rematch of last year's semifinal that saw the Hoyas escape with a 1-0 win. 

UConn enters Thursday's match with 11 wins on the year, the most the team has won since its last NCAA Tournament team in 2016. The Huskies are coming off a 2-0 win at Creighton with UConn getting goals from Lucy Cappadona and Chioma Okafor.

Both Okafor and Cappadona were two of the four Huskies to earn All-BIG EAST recognition on Wednesday with Okafor earning First Team All-BIG EAST accolades for the second-straight season. Cappadona and sophomore Anaya Johnson earned second team status while senior Abbey Jones was named to the third team. 

UConn is looking to snap a four-match winless streak against the Hoyas. With the Huskies last victory coming in 2021. This year's match is Storrs went the way of the Hoyas with Georgetown winning 3-1 on September 29. 

Georgetown won its third-straight BIG EAST regular season title with a 2-0 win against Xavier on the final day of the regular season. The Hoyas landed six players on the All-BIG EAST teams including five on the first team. Maja Lardner (Offensive) and Cara Martin (Goalkeeper) both took home Player of the Year honors. 

UConn is seeking to reach its first BIG EAST Final since 2008.
