WSOC Starts Four Match Home Stand Against Fullerton & URI
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (2-1-1) begins a four-match home stretch with a Thursday, Sept. 5 match vs. Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. and a Sunday, Sept. 8 matchup against URI at 1 pm. Both games will be streamed on UConn+ and be available on WWAX.
The Huskies have won back-to-back games with road wins at UNH (1-0) and Boston University (2-0). Chioma Okafor leads the team with two goals scored and Laci Lewis leads with a pair of assists, both coming in the last match at Boston University.
UConn is still seeking its first home win after a draw aganst Vermont (2-2) in the season opener and a 2-1 loss vs. Wisconsin in the last home tilt.
Goalkeeper Kailtny Mahoney captured her 21st career shutout in the Huskies win in Boston on Sunday.
The meeting between the Huskies and Titans will be the first all-time meeting between the two programs. While the Huskies are 9-0 all-time against Rhode Island with the last meeting coming during the spring COVID season in 2021. Graduate student Lucy Cappadona scored her first career goal in the match against the Rams.
Cal State Fullerton is 2-3 on the season and is led offensively by Kaylee Noble, who has scored three goals thus far in 2024. Mia Ranson has played all five games in goal for the Titans.
The Rams are 2-2-1 on the season with wins against Brown and Holy Cross. The Rams have been limited to three goals in five matches with three players tied for the team lead with a goal each.
