WSOC Kicks Off 2024 vs. Vermont
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team embarks on the 2024 regular season with a Saturday, August 17th opener vs. Vermont at 7 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The game will be streamed for free on UConn+ and available in Connecticut on WAAX.

The Huskies are coming off a 10-4-5 season in 2023 with a 6-1-3 mark in BIG EAST play which secured a third place finish. UConn went on to beat Butler in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals to advance to the BIG EAST Semifinals.
The season ended in the BIG EAST semi's and the Huskies narrowly missed out on receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
UConn brings back a veteran team with 11 seniors/graduate students on the roster and three juniors led by Third Team NSCAA All-American and 2024 Hermann Trophy Watch List member Chioma Okafor.
2023 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Kaitlyn Mahoney returns in goal and was just named 2024 Preseason Goalkeeper of the year. She is joined by All-BIG EAST Second Team defender Lucy Cappadona and All-BIG EAST Third Team midfielder Abbey Jones.
Defender Kelly Monaco, midfielder Sophie McCarthy, midfielder Anaya Johnson, defender Laci Lewis and Chloe Landers all started games and played significant minutes for the Huskies.
Midfielder Joyce Ryder, midfielder Abbey Merchant, defender Yasmin Rosewell, defender Lydia LeBlanc, forward Brooke Walonis all played in nine games or more last season.
Sophomore forwards Alayna Taylor and Lexi Taylor, along with defender Maya Mathis all saw some game action in 2023 while sophomore Jessica Carr looks to make her UConn debut in 2024.
The Huskies add Penn State/Bryant transfer defender Anna Carson, who had to sit out all of last season due to transfer rules, Villanova transfer forward Maddie Fried and DePaul transfer defender Lina Dantes.
UConn also welcomes a talented freshmen class that features defender Grace Burns, forward Kileigh Gorman, midfielder Taylor Jenkins, forward Se-Hanna Mars, forward Isabella Meadows, forward Naia Ocio and goalkeeper Syrai Parker.
Senior MaryKate Ward and sophomore Liz DiBlasi also provide depth in goal behind Mahoney.
UConn is 15-1-2 all-time against the Catamounts with the last meeting coming in 2012. The Huskies won that meeting in Storrs, 4-2, with Jennifer Skogerboe scoring a pair of goals in the triumph.
