WSOC Starts BIG EAST Play at St. John's
JAMAICA, NY – The UConn women's soccer team (6-1-1) kicks of BIG EAST Conference with a road test, at St. John's (5-1-2), on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Belson Stadium. You can watch the match on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.
The Huskies are coming off an emphatic 6-0 victory against Texas A&M last Sunday to extend their win streak to six.
UConn ranks second in the BIG EAST with 19 goals scored and are tied for third in the league with just six goals allowed.
Junior Chioma Okafor leads the BIG EAST with six goals on the year and is tied for the league lead with 14 points.
Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney is tied for the conference lead with three shutouts during non-conference play.
The Huskies were picked second in the BIG EAST in the preseason after finishing in third place in the BIG EAST in 2023.
St. John's enters BIG EAST play with just four goals allowed this season, tied for the fewest in the BIG EAST. The Red Storms lone loss this season came on the road at Yale, 1-0.
Jordyn Levy paces the Red Storm with four goals on the season while Athina Sofroniou has distributed three assists on the year.
UConn leads the all-time series 19-8-2 including a thrilling 2-1 victory in Storrs last season. St. John's tied the game in the 88th minute but Abbey Jones scored the game-winner just 22 seconds later to seal the win.
