UConn Announces Katie Woods' Contract Extension
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn Athletic Department announced the contract extension of Women's Lacrosse Head Coach, Katie Woods, on Thursday morning. Her contract will run through May of 2028.
During Woods' 13-year tenure as Head Coach, she has amassed 126 wins, lead the team to seven BIG EAST Tournament runs, and appeared in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Division I Tournament three times. In addition to her impressive coaching record, Woods has also been named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year three times while at UConn (2013, 2015, 2021), has had 19 All-BIG EAST First Team selections, nine BIG EAST Players of the Year, six IWLCA Division I All-Americans, and 11 IWLCA All-Region First Team selections.
The Huskies went 12-7 during the 2023 season under the leadership of Woods, while notching a consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and clinching a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game.
"I'm excited to continue building UConn Lacrosse into a championship program," said Woods when asked about the future of the program. "We have a great group of athletes and recruits that have that competitive goal of winning championships. We have amazing facilities to help us get there and a great atmosphere here at UConn – the championship culture within the athletic department is just unmatched."
