ALBANY, N.Y. – The UConn women's lacrosse team (8-5) beat the UAlbany Great Danes on a windy Saturday afternoon in Albany. The Huskies advance to 6-0 all-time against the Great Danes with the win.

The Huskies scored first on the day after a shot from Rayea Davis found the back of the net. The Great Danes answered by scoring three of their own, as they took a two goal lead over UConn. The first quarter was closed out by a goal from Eliza Bowman, the Huskies behind by one.

The second quarter started on a UAlbany goal before the Huskies took over; this was the Great Danes' largest lead of the game at two goals. Kate Shaffer notched her first goal of the game, followed up by another from Bowman and two more in a row from Davis. The Huskies closed out the half leading by two goals, 6-4.

The third quarter was a battle, as the Great Danes struck first, cutting the game to one goal. Davis, who already had three goals in the first half, found the back of the net once again to extend the Huskies' lead. UAlbany fought back and scored two goals in a row to tie the game up at seven apiece with 3:25 to go in the period. Goals from Shaffer and Bowman once again put the Huskies up by two as time tickled down on the third.

It was a high-scoring fourth quarter as UConn notched three goals in a row from Susan Lafountain, Abby Charron, and Lauren Barry to extend their lead to five. The Great Danes notched another goal to cut the lead to four, but was quickly followed up by goals from Lafountain and Davis. Two UAlbany goals in a row with less than four minutes on the clock once again put them down by four. Bowman, with a behind the back shot, solidified a UConn win in the final minutes of the game.

The UConn offense was led by Rayea Davis, who had five goals for the Huskies. Eliza Bowman had four goals on the day, her second game in a row with four goals. Abby Charron assisted on four goals and had one of her own. Grad student, Madelyn George, tallied nine draw controls, while Rylee Brown had four draw controls, a ground ball, and two caused turnovers.

The Huskies will stay on the road as they head up to Massachusetts to take on the UMass Minutewomen on Wednesday in an evening contest. Opening draw is set for 6:00 pm.
