Lacrosse Hosts Georgetown in Regular Season Finale
STORRS, Conn.- UConn women's lacrosse wraps up their regular season Saturday afternoon at Morrone Stadium, welcoming the Georgetown Hoyas in a crucial game for the Huskies. With a win, UConn would punch their ticket back to the BIG EAST Tournament in Philly next week.
Last time UConn took the field, the Huskies set a single-game program record, scoring 24 goals in a commanding 24-8 win over Xavier. In the victory, Eliza Bowman (Darien, Conn.) poured in five goals and two assists. Rayea Davis (Henrietta, N.Y.) added four goals and three assists of her own, and Caitlyn Hubiak (Coatesville, Pa.) scored the first four goals of her UConn career.
Georgetown Snapshot:
The Hoyas come into Storrs tied for the top spot in the BIG EAST at 4-1 in conference play. Last weekend, Georgetown held off a Marquette rally to secure a senior day victory in D.C., defeating the Golden Eagles 14-13. Sophia Loschert led the way for the Hoyas with three goals, compiling 29 goals on the season of her freshman campaign. Hanna Bishop leads Georgetown in assists (29) and points (55). Gracie Driggs has scored the most goals for the Hoyas (45) and has contributed the most draw controls (105). Leah Warehime has made all 15 starts for Georgetown, making 109 saves on the season.
BIG EAST Foes: Georgetown leads the all-time series 19-8. Last season, the Huskies notched two wins over the Hoyas, including a win in the BIG EAST Tournament semifinal by a score of 13-11.
Senior Day Ceremony:
Prior to the game, UConn will recognize eight graduating seniors and two student managers of the class of 2025 for all of their contributions to the UConn women's lacrosse program. The following seniors will be recognized: Riley Daly, Eliza Bowman, Anna Zimmermann, JoJo Gum, Meghan Lane, Tori Cini, Amanda Moghadasi, and Jenna Giardina.
