Huskies Set to host Marquette
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's lacrosse team (4-5, 0-1) is set to host the Marquette Golden Eagles (4-7, 0-0) on Saturday at noon at Morrone Stadium in a BIG EAST match-up.
The Huskies are coming off a loss to then-No.13 Denver as they opened their conference slate in Colorado last weekend. Veteran goalkeeper, Landyn White, posted a season-high 18 saves in the loss. Grad student, Kate Shaffer, notched five goals, one assist, and one ground ball. Freshman, Abby Beran, was awarded the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor for the third time this season.
The Golden Eagles will begin their conference slate this weekend against the Huskies. They're coming off an 11-18 loss against then-No.3 Michigan at home. Leigh Steiner was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week after her hat trick against the Wolverines.
The two teams met twice during the 2023 season; The Golden Eagles were victorious during the regular season match-up in Milwaukee, Wisc., while the Huskies took home the win during the BIG EAST tournament semi-finals to advance them to the BIG EAST championship game versus Denver. UConn is 9-2 all-time against Marquette.
The Huskies will welcome back their alumni on Saturday to be honored on the field in a halftime ceremony. In addition, various youth teams around the state will participate in experiences during pre-game, halftime, and post-game. There will be post-game autographs offered for anyone in attendance.
Opening draw is scheduled for 12:07 pm EST and will be streamed on FloSports.
